flower pictures!

This picture was taken at Lapham Peak. I handed a flower to my friend, and the way she was holding it looked kind of cool. I messed around with the saturation, turning it down, and then individually went into the yellow saturation settihng and bumped it up, so that the flower didn't look like it was dying, and it stood out, but the rest of the picture was kind of dull. i like the overall look of this picture, and how it turned out.

For this picture, i kind of kidnapped my friend from her house and made her go with me to this field of flowers. I like this one because she looks natural, as with the other ones i itook of her she was kind of posing. i bumped up the saturation in the entire thing, but again i went individually ibnto the yellow setting and bumped it up a bit more, so that it would really stand out. I also cropped this picture because to start she was dead center, which i did not like. i like the overall color, and feel to this image, and am pleased with how it turned out.

Mythology

Eos, goddess of dawn. Supposed to have "rosy fingers", eos was responsible for opening the gates of heaven so Apollo could ride his chariot across the sky every day.

Aurora, goddess of the dawn, renews herself every morning and flies across the sky, announcing the arrival of the sun.

Mary.

Mary E.. if you are reading this, you need to stop creeping on my blog....

and i just lost the game.

IB SHOT

this is the only picture that was actually picked for the IB art show, but i still love this one the most, and if i could have picked between me getting one amazing shot like this, or three okay ones to be picked for the IB show, i would gladly pick this one. Mooney said that the lighting would be different because of her darker skin, and i think i compensated for that. this is by FAR the favorite portrait i have taken of a non-family member, and i hope over the course of this class, i can learn how to get that one amazing shot (or more than one) out of anyone i photograph.

PORTRAITS!

this is my favorite portrait that i took. This is my little sister (Leela Poppy) and i absolutely love how it turned out. I love taking pictures of my little sister, because sometimes if the light hits her perfectly, it looks like she is radiating, and that the picture seems to be more painting-esque than a picture itself. this has only happened twice (including this time) but i hope it happens more often, because those are always my favorite photos.
i love how this photo turned out too. the only thing i wish i could have done is somehow got the railing not jutting out of her head by changing my angling. in class we started having a discussion about getting the people you are taking pictures of comfortable, and not to pose. this is what happened here, as the first few shots of my mom she was posing, but then my little sister walked up to us and my mom almost let her guard down, and the facial expressions/lighting (to me) turned out amazing.
with this portrait of my good friend (emily o.), i really wanted to work with the lighting with the faces. in this picture, i used a split lighting, but the only thing that kind of ruined it was her bangs fell over her eye, making it in the shadow.

overall, i think these portraits turned out really good, and i am very pleased with them.

5 photos

this picture was supposed to represent love. it was taken with my phone (only because i was at work) in the dairy cooler. i took red and black crates, and made it look like a heart. i messed with some settings in iphoto, and also rotated it because it was at an awkward angle when i took it.
this represents curves. now looking back on it, i probably should have done it on a white scheet/bare background, but i do also like the texture on the floor from the tiles.
this is my color shot, and the overwhelming color (as you can see) is green. i kind of like how the only thing that isn't green (the white at the bottom) still reflected all the green into it, making it all different shades of green.

these are my two candid shots. one thing i wish i could go back and do again with these is not have the flash on. that's one thing i have been working on lately, and hopefully i have been getting better on this since these were taken.
